Council plans to site a small-scale children’s home in Redcar in an existing residential property have been approved. An application had sought change of use planning permission for the property in West Dyke Road.
Up to two looked after children will be cared for 24/7, supported by trained local authority staff. The application said: “The property is situated in a predominantly residential neighbourhood, characterised by similar detached and semi-detached homes, with access to local amenities including schools, parks, healthcare facilities, and public transport links.
“The site benefits from a private driveway with off-street parking, a rear garden, and secure boundary fencing. It is accessible via a main road and is within reasonable proximity to council services and emergency respons
