After early voting in Bexar County , over 60% of ballots have been in opposition to a Judson ISD tax rate proposition.
The overview
A total of 3,389 votes, or 38.95%, are for JISD’s Proposition A, which would increase the district’s property tax rate by $0.045 per $100 valuation to $1.0796 per $100 valuation. A total of 5,311 votes, or 61.05%, are against the proposition.
The district’s board of trustees officially called for the tax rate election, or VATRE, on Aug. 18. If approved, the VATRE would bring in approximately $21 million of revenue, according to the district.
The district called for the VATRE to address its budget shortfall, which sits at $27.57 million as of Oct. 16 , according to board documents.
A total of 148,450 early votes were cast throughout Bexar County race
