U.S.–Canada travel relations have been rocky this year amid ongoing boycotts stemming from political tension. According to a recent Longwoods International study , 63% of Canadian travelers say they’re now less likely to visit the United States due to U.S. policy and politics. Many Canadians who participated in the study also expressed frustration with the overall political climate in the U.S., including discussions surrounding Canadian sovereignty.

At the same time, many Americans have begun questioning whether Canadians still welcome them as visitors. Although several provinces have launched tourism campaigns to reassure their neighbors to the south— most notably Quebec’s viral Come Hug It Out in the Eastern Townships ad —cross-border travel from the U.S. to Canada has declined.
