NISKAYUNA, N.Y (NEWS10) -- Democrat Erin Cassady-Dorion has been elected as the new Niskayuna Town Supervisor, according to the Schenectady County Board of Elections' unofficial results. Cassady-Dorion ran against Republican John Rickert, who conceded in a social media post.
Cassady-Dorion was appointed as the town supervisor after Jaime Puccioni resigned from office. On the campaign trail, Cassady-Dorion said a top priority is making Route 7 safer, as there have been several crashes on Troy-Schenectady Road over the years, some of which have been fatal.
Rickert was the longtime principal at Niskayuna High School before setting his sights on the campaign trail. Like Cassady-Dorion, Rickert also told NEWS10 he would prioritize the safety of Route 7.
