GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County School Board members unanimously approved a new contract during their meeting Tuesday night.
Last week, 99% of union members with the Alachua County Education Association approved the deal.
“There were over 2,000 people who voted for it and 26 that voted against it so it was a landslide and we really are hoping that all of the board members will unanimously support the ratification of our agreement which is our salary raises and new and improved working conditions,” said Carmen Ward, teachers’ union president.
The contract includes 3% raises across the board among union members. The raises would be retroactive to the beginning of the contract year.
