Mehli Mistry steps down as Tata Trusts trustee

In a late development on Tuesday, Ratan Tata’s close associate Mehli Mistry announced his decision to step down as trustee of three Tata Trusts — the Sir Ratan Tata Trust, the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, and the Bai Hirabai JN Tata Navsari Charitable Institution Trust, emphasising on the need to protect the institution from controversy and uphold its founding values.

In his letter addressed to the trustee of Tata Trust including chairman Noel Tata, Mistry said it had been his “privilege to serve as a trustee,” an opportunity granted through the “personal endorsement of the late Ratan N Tata,” his “dearest friend and mentor.”
