Republican candidate Dianne Mitchell took the win in a special election runoff for the House District 21 seat.
Four Republicans originally filed to appear on the ballot for the House District 21 primary, which was held on Oct. 21. Two of the four candidates ended up in a runoff race after falling short of the 50% needed to win the primary.
The House District 21 seat was up for special election after State Rep. Bobby Cox, R-Greenville, resigned to pursue a state senate seat that Sen. Roger Nutt, R-Spartanburg, will vacate in January. However, Cox dropped out of the race before the primary.
