HIBBING, Min. – Voters in the Hibbing School District (ISD #701) in about a 2-to-1 margin said no to new spending for schools in two ballot measures.
In question #1, voters said no with a 65% to 35% margin.
Question #1 asked for a property tax increase, “The school board of Independent School District No. 701 (Hibbing Public Schools) has proposed to increase its general education revenue by $603.00 per pupil, subject to an annual increase at the rate of inflation. The proposed referendum revenue authorization would first be levied in 2025 for taxes payable in 2026 and would be applicable for ten (10) years unless otherwise revoked or reduced by law.
