PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (ABC22/FOX44) - With all precincts reporting in Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties, Brent Davison has a lead of 1,614 votes over Michael Cashman, according to New York state voting data. He declared victory in Plattsburgh late Tuesday evening.
Cashman initially led by a large margin, but as the night went on, more votes came in from conservative areas of Clinton and Franklin Counties, narrowing his lead. By midnight, he led with 51.5% of the vote against Brent Davison's 47.2%.
In a victory speech, Cashman thanked his wife and those who supported him, specifically calling attention to support from labor unions.
"This election was built hand-in-hand with labor," he said.
