PARMA, Ohio — Voters appear to be saying no to a property tax increase for Parma City Schools.
As early results came in Tuesday night, Issue 49 was failing 58%-42% as votes were tallied in Parma, Parma Heights and Seven Hills, according to unofficial election results posted by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
As of 11:05 p.m., the levy was losing 10,453 to 7,672, with 57 of 68 precincts reporting.
Cleveland.com has reached out to Parma schools for comment.
If passed, the levy would have raised approximately $23 million each year for ten years, Superintendent Scott Hunt said previously. The tax increase is expected to fund the district through 2030 — if not slightly longer.
The levy would raise taxes for a $100,000 home by $20.13 a month.
