Incumbent Wendy Smith was on her way to another term on the Vancouver Public Schools board as of early election returns Tuesday for the district’s only contested race.
She had 58.72 percent (13,014 votes) to challenger Larry Roe’s 40.76 percent (9,032 votes).
“I’m just feeling very grateful. I love serving on the board. I love this district,” Smith said Tuesday night. “I want nothing but the best things for our students and their families and our staff, and I’m so excited about the opportunity to keep serving our community.”
Smith, 49, has served on the school board since 2017 . She faces Roe, 69, who lost a 2023 bid against board member Tracie Barrows.
