The National Weather Service released a wind advisory at 12:54 a.m. on Wednesday valid from 7 p.m. until Thursday 8 a.m. for Ulster and Dutchess counties.
"West winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 50 to 55 mph expected," states the weather service. "A line of showers and isolated thunderstorms will rapidly track across the region from west to east this evening. Winds will quickly shift to the west and strengthen. While the strongest winds will likely only last for a short window (2 to 4 hours) tonight, these winds could result in downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Gusty winds will continue through the early morning hours on Thursday but will gradually weaken."
