Santa Fe City Councilor Michael Garcia, a longtime critic of Mayor Alan Webber, will take Webber's place on the dais after winning the city's crowded mayoral race late Tuesday.

Garcia was the front-runner throughout the night, winning by more than 10 percentage points ahead of his closest competitor in the eight-way race, former city finance director Oscar Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who had never before run for office before, outperformed many candidates with better name recognition and more money, including former City Councilors Ron Trujillo and JoAnne Vigil Coppler, County Commissioner Justin Greene and Tarin Nix.
