LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Las Vegas Metro Police graduated 43 new officers Tuesday after six months of training at the police academy.

The new recruits come from diverse professional backgrounds, including a former barber, bartender and massage therapist who now share the same title of Metro Police officer.

Personal journeys drive new officers

Joshua Fisher, one of the graduates, said his sons motivated him throughout the challenging academy experience.

“From bloody noses to tears to sweat, it was a journey,” Fisher said. “I guess I get emotional because I did this for them 100% and they can see their father in a different environment, in a different platform.”
