Family, friends and colleagues gathered for a vigil Tuesday evening in Eagle Rock to remember a Los Angeles Metro bus operator killed over the weekend in a hit-and-run collision.

The fatal crash occurred Sunday evening at around 7:40 p.m. near the onramp of the 2 Freeway and Colorado Boulevard, according to the L.A. Police Department.

Details are limited and it’s unclear exactly how the collision happened, but Metro officials told KTLA that the bus operator was on break when she was fatally struck.

Medical personnel with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and attempted life saving measures, but the victim, identified by family members as Tanya Perry, succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased.
