BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont voters rejected Proposition E on Tuesday, defeating a $9 million bond proposal for a roadway extension project.
Proposition E failed, receiving only 3,503 votes or 32.24% of the total 10,865 votes.
Beaumont voters only said yes to Proposition A, the $58 million infrastructure bond. They also rejected the city's venue tax.
The proposition's failure came as part of the city's first bond election in 43 years. The $9 million represented one of five propositions in a $264 million package approved by the city council and Mayor Roy West earlier this year.
Proposition E would have funded a 0.6-mile extension of Pointe Parkway from Northwest Parkway to State Highway 105.
