BJP Lok Sabha MP from Telangana’s Chevella, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy on Tuesday said that good roads could lead to more severe accidents as vehicles tend to move faster, while addressing the fatal crash at Chevella that killed 19 people on Monday .

“Nowadays, if the roads are in bad condition, fewer accidents happen because vehicles move slowly. The better the roads, the bigger and more frequent the accidents,” he said, adding that road planning should prioritise safety.

Nineteen people died and over 30 were injured after a gravel-laden tipper lorry collided head-on with a government bus in Ranga Reddy district. None of the injured suffered major injuries and they were receiving treatment at different hospitals.
