Two 14-year-old girls in Virginia who were diagnosed with the same form of leukemia are now lifelong friends

As two young girls from Virginia reach the end of their more than two-year treatments for leukemia, they’re celebrating the unexpected friendship that’s given them strength.

“I think that's just really special that even though we're both going through something so terrible, we can at least experience it together,” says Peyton Arthur, 14, of her bond with Makayla Hall, also 14, whom she met at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
