CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A curious "counter-surfing" dog in North Carolina found out the hard way that not all objects are chew toys.
The dog, named Colton, was home alone with the family cat, when he grabbed a device and started playing with it on the living room rug.
Moments later, smoke and flames burst out of the object -- causing Colton to dash up a nearby staircase. Luckily for him, video from an inside camera showed the fire went out quickly -- and no one was injured.
Colton's owner, David Sasser, also happens to be Assistant Fire Chief with the Chapel Hill Fire Department . He shared the video and is speaking out to show the importance of storing items with lithium batteries correctly.
