Snowmaking is underway at Killington and Jay Peak resorts as preparations for the 2025-26 winter season get underway.
Killington fired up a record 175 snow guns, the most ever used on the first day of snowmaking in the resort's history, according to the company. The resort has invested in 1,044 new high-efficiency snow guns over the past two years, which use 40% less air than traditional models, it said.
“Kicking off snowmaking with a record 175 guns shows just how ready our team and our systems are,” Greg Gleason, snowmaking manager at Killington Resort and Pico Mountain, said in an announcement. “With all of our new low-energy guns and infrastructure upgrades over the past two summers, we’re now able to make more snow at any given moment while using less energy."
