The body of an unidentified man has been discovered near the Wenela bus stand in Blantyre.
Radford Ntopa, 51, a groundskeeper at the Ministry of Water Resources offices near Wenela, made the discovery.
Mr. Ntopa said he was drawn to the scene by a foul smell, and upon investigating, found what appeared to be a human body before alerting the police.
According to Blantyre Police Deputy Spokesperson Doris Mwitha, a bag containing men’s clothes was found beside the decomposing body.
Mwitha said the body has been taken to the district hospital for a postmortem, which is currently underway.
Preliminary police reports indicate that the body shows no signs of violence.
