Niles Township voters have rejected marijuana expansion. Residents voted on two proposals regarding retail marijuana.
The first was a referendum on a zoning amendment that would have allowed up to 29 dispensaries. It failed by a wide margin. The second proposal, calling for the ban of all marijuana dispensaries in the township, passed with a wide margin.
The votes followed months of community debate over market saturation and the township’s closeness to the Indiana border.
