The Washington Commanders just cleared a major mid-season trouble. The threat of suspension for linebacker Frankie Luvu because of his illegal tackle has finally been lifted. He will suit up for the Commanders’ next game. With four straight losses behind them, Washington couldn’t afford to lose another key piece. So, as the league tightens its disciplinary standards, the Commanders narrowly dodged this one.

Frankie Luvu’s initial one-game suspension, after his multiple offenses, has been reduced to a $100,000 fine upon appeal. This was overseen by hearing officer Derrick Brooks. As most know, his multiple hip-drop tackles have been an issue for the player.

While the league is focused on bringing down the number of hip drop tackles, Luvu’s reputation hasn’t been the most favorable here.
