Sandy Brondello has known nothing but winning as a WNBA coach, be it in San Antonio, Phoenix or Downtown Brooklyn.

Now, the 57-year-old Australian is breaking new ground north of the border.

On Tuesday, Brondello was officially named the first head coach of the expansion Toronto Tempo, as reported in the Eagle last week via the Associated Press.

Brondello, who won a franchise-record 107 games at the helm in four seasons with New York and delivered Title I to Brooklyn in 2024, did not have her contract renewed by the organization following this season’s first-round playoff exit.

In the previous two campaigns, the Liberty went to back-to-back WNBA Finals, the first marking their initial trip since 2002 and the second resulting in the team’s first-ever title.
