HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Democrat Joseph Ferris has declared victory in the 2025 Hudson mayoral race. According to unofficial tallies, he beat out several other candidates, including a narrow lead over incumbent Kamal Johnson.
In a post on Instagram on Wednesday, Ferris thanked his supporters for the win. Johnson had posted on Facebook earlier in the morning that he would not yet be conceding, saying that "there are still some things about this election to question."
This year's race marks the first time that Ferris has ever run for office, though he has previous experience in city government. The Brooklyn-native has been a Hudson resident for three years and currently works as a government relations manager at an anti-hunger non-profit in Albany.
