CASS LAKE, Minn. — Earlier this fall, royal watchers got a kick out of something that had nothing to do with Harry, Meghan, William or Kate.

In late September, King Charles stopped into a long-term care facility in Surrey, England, to say hello to the woman recently named “the oldest person on Earth.”

Ethel Caterham, at 116, took the Guinness World Record title in April following the death of a Brazilian nun who had also reached 116.

She’s still six years shy of the oldest documented person to ever live — Jeanne Louise Calment of France, who died in 1997 at 122. The native of southern France said she survived on daily doses of port wine, chocolate and prayer.
