EDGEFIELD, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A pedestrian was killed in a crash in Edgefield County on Tuesday night, according to authorities.

Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Sweetwater Road near Briggs Road around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Troopers say a pedestrian was in the roadway of Sweetwater Road when a Jeep Liberty was traveling south on Sweetwater Road.

The Jeep then struck the pedestrian, according to troopers.

The pedestrian was transported to Wellstar MCG for treatment, where they later died, according to troopers.
