Anthony Hopkins and Charlotte Rampling will lead a new period drama titled The Species from British director Justin Chadwick ( Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom ).

The film was written by Jacob Killion. HanWay Films will handle international sales, while UTA Independent reps domestic.

The official synopsis reads: Emma Darwin, widow of visionary scientist Charles Darwin, finds herself on a late-life journey of self-discovery as she faces a challenge to her faith in the form of her beloved atheist husband’s as–yet–unpublished autobiography.

Also starring are Tom Hollander ( The White Lotus ) and Billy Howle ( Under the Banner of Heaven ).
