Moments after the race for New York City mayor was called for Zohran Mamdani, a celebration seemingly erupted throughout Brooklyn and beyond with cars honking and cheers erupting in the streets.

This year drew the largest number of voters for a New York City mayoral election since 1969 , according to the city’s Board of Elections. And Brooklynites came out to support Mamdani in droves. Bars throughout the borough were packed for watch parties that eventually turned into victory parties.
