COLUMBUS, Ohio — Opening statements were delivered on Wednesday for the trial of Blendon Township police officer Connor Grubb, who is accused of murder in the fatal shooting of Ta’Kiya Young in August 2023.
Grubb, 31, is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault in connection with Young’s death in a Kroger parking lot in Blendon Township. Young, who was six months pregnant, died after being shot by Grubb during an encounter captured on body camera and store surveillance video.
Attorneys completed the jury selection process on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say they have nearly 80 potential witnesses, but are not expected to call all of them to testify. Jurors will also take a jury view, allowing them to see where the shooting occurred.
