BEAUMONT, Texas — Three Beaumont City Council members issued a joint statement Wednesday criticizing the city's bond election process after voters approved only an infrastructure proposition while rejecting other measures in the city's first bond election in 43 years.
At-Large Council Member Mike Williams and Ward 1 and Ward 2 Council Members Cory Crenshaw and Joey Hilliard said Tuesday's election results demonstrate that a majority of the council "failed to grasp the true pulse of our community."
"The voters of Beaumont have spoken clearly, approving only the infrastructure proposition while decisively rejecting the others," the council members said in their statement.
