Zohran Mamdani won the Upper West Side in the race for mayor on Tuesday night, according to a voter breakdown by The New York Times.

Mamdani secured 51 percent of the votes in the neighborhood in the General Election, compared to Andrew Cuomo’s 46 percent, The New York Times analysis shows.

This is a major change from the Democratic Primary in June, when Cuomo won the Upper West Side by four points over Mamdani, meaning there was a nine-point swing toward the Queens assemblymember this November.

In part, it indicates that Upper West Siders who voted for Brad Lander in the Democratic primary, who secured 25 percent of the neighborhood vote in June, chose to back Mamdani over Cuomo.
