TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Tampa Police Department said it is grieving the passing of a dedicated officer, Harold Jones.

Jones dedicated 38 years to serving Tampa on patrol and as an emergency dispatcher. TPD selected him as the 2023 Reserve Officer of the Year.

Jones' obituary said he passed away at 63 on Oct. 27 after a brief illness, leaving behind a loving family that expressed the privilege of knowing him.

According to his obituary, Jones was knowledgeable about sports memorabilia and often worked traffic at Tampa Bay Buccaneers home games

"This humble public servant made our city safer, and we are all better for our time with him," TPD said in a post dedicated to Jones. "Harold, you will be missed."
