A special weather statement has been issued for Hamilton on Wednesday — as well as much of the rest of southern Ontario — as strong winds move through the region.
“The winds are already starting to pick up in the Hamilton area with gusts expected to reach between 30 kilometres per hour and 60 kilometres per hour through the morning and early afternoon,” says Geoff Coulson, meteorologist at Environment Canada.
Coulson says that once a cold front passes between 2 and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the wind direction will shift to the northwest, with speeds of 30 to 70 km/h, and possibly an occasional gust up to 80 km/h.
“If people have things in their backyard that are easily blown around, it would be a good idea to bring them into the garage or tie them down,” says Coulson.
