Cambridgeshire is not a county anyone would travel to for hillwalking – it's about as flat as it gets. The county is also mostly at or below sea level, which is why you may have seen maps showing how Peterborough could become a seaside town with significant sea level rises.

One pub has used a unique fact about its altitude as a claim to fame, claiming that it is the lowest pub in Great Britain at nine feet below sea level. The Admiral Wells is a few minutes from the A1 in Holme.

It is near the Holme Fen Posts, which are markers to show the lowest land point in England. The cast iron posts were once completely buried and invisible, but they became exposed as the peat around them shrank and disappeared.
