After Atlanta's 24-23 loss to the Patriots at Gillette Stadium, the Falcons head coach essentially accused New England's defense of illegally simulating his team's snap count by clapping just before the snap on a crucial second-and-10 play with 2:09 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Patriots, Morris claimed, tricked Falcons center Ryan Neuzil into snapping the ball before quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was ready, causing Penix to spike the ball and be whistled for intentional grounding.
