TONAWANDA, N.Y. — There is news in the race for the 61st seat in the New York State Senate, with a new candidate throwing his hat into the ring.
Riding a wave of democratic success on Election night, Erie County Democratic Party chair Jeremy Zellner has announced he plans to run for the 61st NYS Senate District Seat that will soon be vacated by State Senator Sean Ryan, following his election as Buffalo Mayor.

As well as being party chair, Zellner is also the Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner for Erie County. In order to run, he will have to resign from that post, which he has committed to doing in January.
