An argument between two men at a Crenshaw County home left one man dead and another jailed.

DeAndre Phiffer, 39, of Rutledge, is charged with manslaughter in the slaying of 44-year-old Travis Clayton of Opp, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency announced Wednesday.

The fatal shooting happened about 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Phiffer’s home in the 1000 block of Quail Tower Road in Luverne.

Charging documents state that there was an altercation between Phiffer, Clayton and two females at the home.

Phiffer, according to the manslaughter warrant, fired a single shot that struck Clayton in the head.

Later that day, he was booked into the Crenshaw County Jail with bond set at $60,000.
