MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man who serves as the county attorney in Panola County, Mississippi was cited for driving under the influence after a crash on Halloween, authorities say.

Charlie Gaines Baker was issued a DUI citation after Panola County deputies responded to a one-car crash on Bell Road, Sheriff Shane Phelps said Wednesday.

Gaines was the only person in the vehicle, and was found sitting in the passenger seat.

Deputies said Baker appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was asked to complete a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which he consented to, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Baker was taken to a hospital for injuries.
