Girls on the Run 5K celebrates season devoted to empowering youth

A bronze buffalo sporting a papercraft necklace and numerous stations filled with volunteers greeted everyone visiting Buffalo Park to participate in the 2025 Girls on the Run 5K on Saturday.

Girls on the Run is a 10-week annual nonprofit dedicated to girls between third and eighth grade across northern Arizona. Each year, the program ends with a 5K -- or 3.1-mile run -- to celebrate the girls’ growth in strength and confidence.
