The Chagrin Valley Islamic Center in Solon announced that Imam Ammar ibn Yasser was terminated due to accusations of inappropriate behavior and later said in a separate statement that the Solon Police Department was investigating after an incident in June.

The mosque at 6909 Liberty Road said in the statement to its members that it needed “to share with our community a distressing matter” regarding Yasser, the imam of the center.

“The matter has been reported to Solon Police by both our Executive Committee/Board of Trustees and by the affected party,” the statement said. “We are cooperating with police as they investigate this matter.”

The Chagrin Valley Islamic Center did not respond to requests for comment by the Cleveland Jewish News.
