NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The University of New Orleans Lakefront campus will embark on a new chapter under the leadership of the LSU System.

Dating back to 2011, UNO was under the University of Louisiana System when they faced a decline in enrollment.

Beginning on July 1, 2026, the responsibility for the Lakefront campus will transition from the University of Louisiana system to the LSU system, according to LSU officials. This effort signifies an opportunity to "revitalize enrollment, recalibrate academic offerings and fully leverage the campus's exceptional lakefront footprint," LSU officials reported.
