KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department has announced that crime in the city is "significantly down" in several categories in 2025 compared to this time last year.

The police department shared the statistics in a news release Wednesday.

Since the summer, police have been highlighting specific categories with the largest percentage of change, including violent crimes and property crimes. On Wednesday, the police department compared reports from January through October in 2025 to January through October in 2024.
