(WXIN/WTTV) — Despite the fireball and catastrophic structural failure that doomed UPS Flight 2976 on Tuesday afternoon in Louisville, Purdue Assistant Professor and Director of Aviation Safety Stephanie Brown said there is enough of the MD-11 aircraft intact to provide investigators with the clues to determine the cause of the horrific crash upon takeoff.
”These investigators will be able to tell by where the debris has landed, whether it's one mile away, ten miles away, how all that gets distributed will tell how the engine came apart, and what those parts connected will really tell that full story,” she said.
