THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Land Revenue Commissioner has issued a circular stating that land mutation should not be denied on the grounds of pending court cases regarding the ownership of land. However, if there is a court order blocking land mutation, it will not be allowed.

The clarification was made based on complaints that the village officers are denying mutation of land held in excess of the limit as per the Land Reforms Act and land subject to court cases. The circular clarifies that as per the Land Mutation Act of 1964, the area of land is not a criterion for mutation and that land mutation does not prevent or stop proceedings related to surplus land under the Kerala Land Reforms Act.
