SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois has made a big jump in improving its support of human trafficking survivors.
On Wednesday, the Illinois State Police announced Illinois has gone from an "F" to an "A" on the Shared Hope International Just Like Me Report Cards , a metric that grades states based off laws that focus on survivors of human trafficking and addressing its effects.
Illinois was given their "A" grade because of the recent passage of the Illinois Statewide Trauma-Informed Response to Human Trafficking Act . It was passed to provide consistency in the state's response to human trafficking by creating policies, agency infrastructure, screening tools, training, and protocols.
Illinois is now ranked second in the U.S. for its policies supporting human trafficking survivors.
