CORALVILLE — Defending Class 2A champion and top-ranked Denver moved one step closer to another title, sweeping Wapsie Valley 25-14, 25-17, 25-11 Tuesday in the state quarterfinals at Xtream Arena.

The Cyclones (48-1) hit an impressive .370 as a team and controlled the match from start to finish. Bailey Mullihan led Denver with 11 kills, while Adeana Murch added nine and Mylee Thurn chipped in seven. Setter Channing Johnson distributed 28 assists and contributed 11 digs to pace the Cyclone offense. Denver also dominated at the net with nine team blocks.

Wapsie Valley (24-18) was led by Sawyer Buhr with six kills, while Espyn Decker tallied a team-high 12 digs. Taylor Buhr tallied six kills for the Warriors.
