GREEN, Ohio – The Akron-Canton Airport will hit a milestone later this week when it launches its 24 th destination, a nonstop route to Wilmington, North Carolina.

That’s more nonstop routes from the small Summit County airport than at any time in its history.

True, the airport served many more passengers a decade ago, when Akron-Canton was a top destination for AirTran Airways.

Even during the heady AirTran days, however, the airport maintained a maximum of 19 nonstop destinations.

“Reaching 24 nonstop destinations is a testament to the strong partnerships we have with our airlines and the growing loyalty travelers have with CAK,” said airport president and CEO Ren Camacho, in a statement.
