We’re in the middle of deer breeding and hunting season, which means deer are on the move and so are the collisions. Between Oct. 1 and Nov. 1, St. Joseph County Police officers responded to 43 deer-related crashes, up from just 9 the previous month. Thankfully, there have been no serious injuries or fatalities, and they want to keep it that way. They’re reminding drivers to stay alert, especially during dawn and dusk. They say to slow down and scan the roadsides. And, if you see a deer, there’s usually more than one and don’t swerve if a deer crosses in front of you.
