Mahoning Valley - Voters in Austintown and Cortland showed support for their police departments passing levies this election - reversing their course from last November.
Austintown’s funds will help get six to eight more officers. This time around the department asked the voters for a five year additional levy after the taxpayers shot down a continuous levy in 2024.
“I think that may have helped us far as people realizing that we were willing to go with less for a less amount of time and try to make that work and also to give them the authority to re-issue that in five years,” Chief Valorie Delmont of the Austintown Police Department said.
